KLDiscovery, one of the largest national eDiscovery providers, is seeking a Forensic Analyst to manage and conduct investigations related to data collections, forensic data, file and email analysis, and data recovery across dynamic environments. You will work with internal and external clients in a consulting and advisory capacity to establish requirements for collection, processing, and reporting of data.
Key responsibilities include:
- Consult with stakeholders to gather requirements, scope projects, and provide consulting solutions for data collection, investigations, and reporting
- Conduct full forensic analysis from collection through analysis and reporting using tools such as EnCase, FTK, XWays, Axiom, Cellebrite, or NUIX
- Execute established computer forensic protocols, processes, and chain of custody procedures
- Compose reports, affidavits, and depositions; participate in court testimony as needed
- Conduct or assist with forensic acquisition and preservation of electronic data from various IT environments, including social media and mobile devices
- Participate in on-site and remote imaging and data captures
- Coordinate and track electronic collection activities, maintain chain of custody and project lifecycle documentation
- Perform analytical analysis of datasets including operating system logs, hard drives, mobile phones, and network activities
- Use network theory and data mining to reveal relationships, patterns, trends, and statistics through link analysis, timeline analysis, and data visualization
- Meet customer timelines and deliver reports based on findings
- Provide professional communication and high-level customer service
- Assist case managers with customer calls and questions
- Learn and master advanced skills for larger-scale forensic investigations
- May participate in on-call program requiring 24/7 availability at times
- Handle long hours and shift work as needed to meet project deadlines
- Assist with documentation and training of learned knowledge to engineers and sales teams
The role is remote/work-from-home with weekly travel to California. Candidates must be based on the West Coast. Occasional travel up to 25% is required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university, or technical school certificate in science-related areas
- 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Hands-on experience with laptops, desktops, and various IT systems
- Understanding of network architectures
- Experience with forensic investigation tools: EnCase, FTK, XWays, Axiom, Cellebrite, or NUIX
- Knowledge of KLDiscovery Ontrack proprietary Data Recovery Tool (can be gained through training)
- LAN support, troubleshooting, auditing, and security risk experience
- Administration of Windows-based systems and networks
- Administration of non-Windows-based systems and networks (Linux/Netware)
- Experience with email-based systems
- Civil or criminal investigations background preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Good or excellent report/affidavit drafting skills
- Some or substantial testifying experience preferred
- Ability to achieve at least basic proficiency with forensic tools
