Cowboy Space Corp., founded in 2024 by Robinhood co-founder Baiju Bhatt, is building orbital infrastructure including satellites that collect sunlight, transmit energy via infrared lasers, and deliver secure optical data. The company is backed by leading investors and staffed by aerospace and defense veterans.
As a Fluids Analyst, you will own the complete lifecycle of fluids prediction and analysis for the engineering team. Your models, analysis, and data will directly inform every fluid system decision—from early-stage sizing before hardware exists through test validation and flight operations.
Key responsibilities include: building and maintaining 1D fluid network and transient system models to predict pressure drop, flow capability, and thermal performance; performing early-phase simulations and trade studies to inform architecture and component selection; predicting flow capability and pressure budgets across systems (line losses, manifold balance, cavitation margin, engine inlet conditions); analyzing transient behavior (water hammer, valve sequencing, tank pressurization, thermal stratification); performing CFD analysis of valves and manifolds to resolve loss coefficients and flow distribution; conducting thermal-fluid analysis including two-phase and cryogenic behavior; defining instrumentation and measurement requirements for model validation; supporting component and system-level test campaigns with analysis-driven objectives and red lines; owning test data reduction and analytics including pipeline automation and uncertainty quantification; correlating models against test and flight data to improve predictive accuracy; establishing analysis methods, model libraries, and validation standards; performing anomaly investigation and root cause analysis; and communicating results clearly to designers, test engineers, and leadership.
This is a hands-on role—you will be in the test bay observing data collection, not just running simulations. You must move quickly, iterate often, and take full ownership of the fluid models the team depends on. You will balance model fidelity against schedule, knowing when hand calculations suffice and when CFD is warranted.
