Isar Aerospace is a fast-growing space company building modern launch solutions for small and medium-sized satellites into Low Earth Orbit. The company is privately funded by leading technology investors and operates at the forefront of New Space, aiming to democratize access to space through sustainable and environmentally friendly launch capabilities.
As a Fluid Systems Engineer, you will take on a coordinative role owning engineering modules and systems within ground support infrastructure, including test stands for R&D, qualification and acceptance testing of propulsion systems, rocket stages, and launchpads. You will maintain a complete lifecycle perspective, ensuring design approaches are consistent across multiple projects while exploiting synergies to build reliable and safe systems to specification.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own engineering modules/systems within larger projects, including status reporting, issue escalation, and proactive management of requirements with stakeholders across multiple subsystems
- Identify problems and risks in project realization and escalate them appropriately
- Coordinate, plan, and drive design and commissioning activities with design engineers
- Develop and update harmonized design approaches; incorporate lessons learned into processes and project delivery
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and harmonized internal standards through design reviews
- Support procurement and delivery of systems/services with process plant engineering, ensuring specifications are met
- Contribute to design reviews in your field of expertise while keeping adjacent topics in mind
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and advise on rocket propulsion aspects of test and launch facility design
You will report directly to the Manager Ground Fluid Systems and work closely with the Propulsion Technology and Launch Vehicle departments, whose requirements dictate the design of ground support equipment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Aerospace, Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Energy Engineering, or equivalent
- Several years of professional experience in fluid systems engineering or related field
- Strong knowledge of fluid systems design, thermodynamics, and system integration
- Experience with ground support equipment, test facilities, or launch infrastructure is highly valued
- Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulatory requirements
- Excellent project coordination and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional teams
- Strong communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus
