Anduril Industries is seeking an experienced Flight Test Operator to join the Maneuver Dominance team in Llanbedr, Wales. This role is critical to the development and deployment of advanced autonomous Uncrewed Air Systems (UAS) for defense applications.
You will operate Anduril UK's advanced fleet of UAS platforms, including fixed-wing and FW VTOL aircraft, in complex multi-asset operations. Your responsibilities include planning and executing missions within Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) and Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) scenarios, acting as Safety Pilot for manual flight operations, and conducting comprehensive pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight diagnostics.
Key technical responsibilities involve operating and troubleshooting advanced UAS systems, demonstrating expert-level proficiency with Pixhawk and Cube Orange Flight Controllers, including configuration, firmware management, and mission planning using ground control station software. You will develop and implement mission-specific risk assessments using Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) principles to ensure safe and compliant execution within the UK CAA Specific Category framework.
You will maintain accurate flight logs, technical records, and incident reports in accordance with regulatory and company procedures. Collaboration with engineering, flight test, and project teams is essential to provide feedback on UAS performance, identify improvements, and integrate new technologies. You will ensure strict adherence to all UK CAA regulations for UAS operations, manage operational authorizations and permits, and provide technical support including basic field maintenance.
As a senior operator, you will contribute to developing safe systems of work for UAS operations, promote a robust safety culture, and mentor less experienced operators. The role requires flexibility, including potential weekend work and extensive travel (25-50% of the time) to support field operations.
