Salary: USD 185,000 - 235,000 / annual
Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. As a Flight Test Instrumentation Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, fabrication, and certification of Archer's piloted eVTOL aircraft.
You will be responsible for performing electrical installation design for all flight test instrumentation hardware on the aircraft, supporting installation planning and liaising with manufacturing teams during aircraft buildup and active testing. You'll work closely with internal customers and vendors to solve instrumentation and measurement challenges, serving as a key technical advisor to the Instrumentation Director on all aircraft instrumentation electrical design activities.
Key responsibilities include developing processes and documentation for flight test instrumentation installation and maintenance, collaborating with Flight Test Engineering and Certification teams to plan and execute development and certification activities, and working across all engineering design teams to establish comprehensive instrumentation plans for monitoring strain, temperature, vibration, pressure, airdata, environmental control systems, and more.
You will assist in designing hardware required for flight test, including instrumentation racks, air data booms, aircrew interfaces, workstations, camera systems, and telemetry systems. You'll support instrumentation technicians and the Aircraft Operations team in implementing instrumentation designs while ensuring all activities are completed on time and within budget.
This role requires a B.S. in Engineering and 7+ years of experience as an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineer. You must have hands-on experience with flight wiring design and installation, wire/harness routing for aircraft, generating work instructions, and design for manufacturing. Bonus qualifications include flight test configuration management experience, FTI systems and sensor maintenance knowledge, proficiency with Siemens Capital for diagrams and harnesses, drawing configuration management, and experience training others on design topics.
