Pyka is developing autonomous electric aircraft for cargo transport and crop protection applications. The company has secured FAA regulatory approvals and operates across four continents, serving real-world customers with economical, environmentally friendly aviation solutions.
As a Flight Test Engineer, you will support the development and testing of Pyka's advanced autonomous aircraft systems. Your primary responsibilities include conducting ground and flight operations, standardizing aircraft procedures and operational protocols, developing instructional techniques, and providing technical feedback to inform product evolution.
You will spend most of your time at Pyka's facilities in Dixon or Victoria Island, California, with occasional travel (1-2 weeks at a time) for spray and cargo demonstrations and customer support at deployment locations.
This is a multidisciplinary role requiring strong collaboration with internal engineering teams and external partners. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will document test results, procedures, and recommendations that influence both operational standards and product development.
The ideal candidate is technically knowledgeable with hands-on experience in flight operations—either with manned aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). While an engineering degree is not required, you must demonstrate solid technical fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems in a dynamic flight-test environment. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovative aerospace company where your contributions directly impact safety, reliability, and the advancement of autonomous electric aviation technology.
