Anduril Industries is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to join the Test and Evaluation team supporting the Altius UAS platform, a Group 2/3 autonomous vehicle specializing in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. This role focuses on software and hardware capability development and evaluation, ensuring products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
You will work under minimal supervision on test planning, execution, reporting, and evaluation of the Altius system. Key responsibilities include:
• Planning and executing test events at designated test sites, managing test configurations including hardware components, payloads, and software/firmware versions
• Fleet management: facilitating and tracking required maintenance, planning asset requirements for current and future testing efforts
• Developing evaluation test plans and reports focused on system functionality and software-hardware integration suitability, including safety risk assessment and logistical planning
• Generating and executing test cards, conducting pre- and post-flight briefings, and managing test events with diverse support teams (pilots, engineering SMEs, operations)
• Operating Altius during system evaluation testing
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including hardware and software engineering, adjudicating testing tasks, and characterizing issues and observations
• Daily interface with hardware and software engineering teams
• Collecting and reporting flight test metrics including sortie information and delays
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline, strong communication and interpersonal skills, methodical attention to detail, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and willingness to learn. You must be able to obtain FAA 14 CFR Part 107 (Small UAS) and Part 61 (ground test) certifications, possess working knowledge of National Airspace and UAS operating guidelines, obtain a security clearance, work extended hours as needed, and travel for planning and testing.
Preferred experience includes 3+ years in flight test engineering or system-level testing, software and documentation experience with Linux-based systems, knowledge of Group 2/3 fixed-wing systems, and DOD program experience.
