Impulse is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and integrate software for space vehicles. You will work on guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms, command and telemetry handling, mission sequencing, autonomy, and fault management systems. The role involves implementing features for real-time flight software frameworks that meet deterministic performance requirements in space environments, developing detection and mitigation algorithms for anomalies such as sensor failures and radiation-induced faults, and supporting mission operations during ground integration, environmental testing, and on-orbit operations. You will collaborate closely with avionics engineers, GNC engineers, propulsion engineers, and other cross-disciplinary teams to deliver high-reliability, high-performance software for in-space transportation. Responsibilities include contributing to the design, implementation, integration, and verification of software for closed-loop control of propulsion, attitude control, and other time-critical systems. You will direct and participate in code reviews, ensuring compliance with software safety, reliability, and maintainability standards, and troubleshoot real-time issues as they arise. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with 2+ years of experience writing C/C++ code for embedded systems or vehicles (robots, cars, drones, spacecraft, etc.). You should have demonstrated understanding of computer architecture, operating systems, data structures, and computer networking, along with experience using Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) or Embedded Linux. Familiarity with version control, test cases, and software best practices is essential.
