This Fleet Reliability Engineer role focuses on improving vehicle fleet uptime and reliability through systematic problem-solving and engineering excellence.
You will perform root cause analysis on trending vehicle issues, implement long-term scalable solutions, and create robust testing procedures and diagnostic tools to maximize fleet uptime, safety, and stability. The role involves tracking down why systems fail or underperform in real-world conditions and translating those findings into stronger, more reliable vehicle designs. You'll work cross-functionally with engineering and operations teams on reliability improvements, collaborating on demos and testing performance validation.
Key responsibilities include designing fleet-scalable solutions, maintaining operational metrics, and escalating complex issues across teams. This is a hands-on engineering role that bridges hardware and software reliability, requiring deep understanding of automotive systems and autonomous vehicle components.
Required qualifications: BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline; 5+ years working with automotive hardware and software; experience with software/hardware reliability and testing; familiarity with AV components (LiDAR, RADAR, cameras). Nice-to-have skills include automotive communication protocols (CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet), CAN tools (Vector, PCAN), firmware flashing experience, and software tools like Slack, Jira, Confluence.
Applied Intuition is headquartered in Sunnyvale with global offices. This is an in-office role (5 days/week primary expectation) with flexibility for occasional remote work and schedule adjustments. The company serves 18 of the top 20 global automakers and the US military.
