Applied Intuition is seeking a Firmware Engineer to own the foundation of new hardware platforms from day one. This deeply hands-on role focuses on low-level firmware development, early board bring-up, and system-level enablement across microcontrollers and infotainment-class SoCs. You will work at the boundary of hardware and software with end-to-end ownership from first power-on through production-ready platforms. Your work will define boot flows, OS bring-up, performance characteristics, and power behavior that future products and teams build upon. Key responsibilities include: - Leading board bring-up for new hardware platforms including microcontrollers and infotainment SoCs - Developing and debugging bootloaders and early boot software - Bringing up and customizing FreeRTOS, QNX, Linux, and Android on new boards - Enabling Linux kernel and device driver enablement for custom hardware - Optimizing boot time, system startup, and runtime performance - Driving power optimization across boot, idle states, and active workloads - Debugging complex hardware and software issues using JTAG, logic analyzers, and low-level logs - Collaborating with hardware teams, BSP vendors, and silicon partners - Supporting system integration, validation, and bring-up on real target hardware Required qualifications: - Strong experience in firmware or low-level embedded systems development - Hands-on experience with board bring-up for MCUs or SoCs - Deep knowledge of FreeRTOS and/or QNX for embedded systems - Experience with Linux kernel or Android at the platform level - Solid understanding of bootloaders such as U-Boot or custom boot flows - Strong C and C++ programming skills - Experience debugging early boot and hardware-dependent issues - Understanding of power management, boot optimization, and performance tuning - Comfortable reading schematics and datasheets and working close to hardware - Ability to work independently and take ownership from bring-up to stabilization Nice-to-have skills include BSP customization, secure boot mechanisms, customer-facing engineering experience, cloud-connected vehicle platforms, and knowledge of functional safety standards (ASIL levels) and cybersecurity (ISO 21434). The role is in-office based in Bangalore with expectation of 5 days per week presence, though occasional flexibility is available.
