Valar Atomics is building advanced nuclear power systems designed for scalability, factory manufacturing, and real-world deployment. The company's mission is to make clean, high-temperature nuclear power accessible for industrial applications, hydrogen production, and next-generation manufacturing. Their first pilot plant in Orangeville, Utah will demonstrate how advanced nuclear systems and fuel fabrication can power the future.
The Fire Protection Engineer will join the Mechanical Engineering team, which designs and develops the mechanical systems, components, and equipment powering Valar's advanced nuclear technologies. This role is critical to ensuring designs are robust, manufacturable, and optimized for long-term performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, analyze, and implement fire protection systems and processes for reactor buildings and other Valar facilities
- Support engineering design, analysis, calculations, and specifications for facility infrastructure fire and life safety systems
- Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for Valar office and reactor facilities
- Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliance, including chemical classification, chemical quantity analysis, chemical inventory management, and related system design support
- Support facility construction teams to develop field solutions
- Serve as the domain expert for all fire protection matters across the company
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to bring new facilities from concept to production
