The Financial Crime Compliance Manager (Sanctions) role sits within the second line of defence, blending regulatory expertise with data-driven thinking to ensure products meet legal and policy requirements while delivering customer value. This is a hands-on compliance leadership position focused on sanctions and terrorism financing in a fast-moving, digital environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring sanctions regulatory changes and assessing their impact on operations
- Drafting, maintaining, and updating FinCrime policies related to sanctions and terrorism financing
- Overseeing the sanctions screening framework, including tool parameters and effectiveness
- Advising on complex sanctions cases and managing reporting to authorities
- Contributing to the internal control framework through risk assessments, control design, indicators, incident management, and recommendations
- Providing second line of defence support to business and first line FinCrime teams during product launches, procedure updates, and system implementations
- Supporting FinCrime training and awareness programs for employees
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in financial crime compliance with a focus on sanctions and terrorism financing, covering both retail and business customer segments. You should understand innovative financial services products (crypto, buy now-pay later, etc.) and their associated financial crime risks. Expertise in sanctions regulations, authority communications, and sanction screening tools is essential. You'll need strong stakeholder management skills, the ability to collaborate and negotiate effectively, and a track record of identifying financial crime risks and vulnerabilities while advising on best practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in FinCrime (sanctions and/or terrorism financing) covering retail and business customers
- Understanding of innovative financial services products and associated financial crime risks
- Expertise in sanctions regulations and communications with authorities
- Knowledge of sanction screening tools
- Understanding of industry-wide financial crime practices and trends
- Exposure to the French sanctions regime
- Expertise in identifying financial crime risks and vulnerabilities, and advising on best practices
- Track record of stakeholder management and effective collaboration/negotiation
- Fluency in English
NICE TO HAVE:
- Professional qualification from an internationally recognised body (e.g., ICA, ACAMS)
- Fluency in French
