Cortea is a European audit-tech company using AI to automate audits end-to-end, eliminating manual spreadsheet-driven work and enabling auditors to focus on judgment and high-stakes decisions. With €15m+ in funding, a live product, and paying customers across Europe, the company is seeking a Financial Auditor with deep audit methodology expertise to shape the product. In this role, you will report to Co-Founder Philipp and sit at the intersection of audit practice and product development. You will translate complex auditing standards into structured logic, work closely with the engineering team in Berlin, and help define how audit workflows are built, tested, and shipped. This is not a traditional audit role—it requires someone who understands audit methodology in detail and wants to build the tools they always wished they had. Key Responsibilities: - Participate in product reviews and design sessions, providing hands-on feedback on prototypes and helping prioritize the roadmap - Translate ISA (UK) and international auditing standards into structured, executable logic for the product and engineering teams - Write, test, and refine prompts and decision logic that drive AI audit workflows - Ensure audit documentation quality aligns with ISA (UK) 230 and related requirements, and that system outputs withstand internal quality control and external review - Safeguard auditor independence and ensure product compliance with FRC Ethical Standard and ICAEW/ACCA Code of Ethics - Travel regularly to the Berlin hub to collaborate in person with the product and engineering team Requirements: - Minimum 5 years of financial audit experience (Big 4 or leading mid-tier firms preferred), including time at audit manager level with solid understanding of engagement responsibility and audit risk - ACA (ICAEW), ACCA, or equivalent chartered accountancy qualification - Strong interest in audit methodology; ability to turn abstract standards into clear, reproducible logic - Tech-first mindset with proven willingness to leverage, experiment with, or build new tools; relentless curiosity about AI and innovation - Ability to sketch decision trees and define structured, unambiguous process outputs; comfortable writing and iterating on AI prompts - No programming background required, but must think in processes, dependencies, and system logic; comfortable working closely with engineers daily - Strong grasp of ISA (UK), UK GAAP (FRS 102), IFRS, and the Companies Act 2006 - Native English speaker; German is a plus
