inKind is a fintech platform transforming restaurant financing and customer engagement. The company provides growth capital to restaurants while helping consumers discover dining experiences nationwide.
The Finance Systems & Automation Analyst role sits at the intersection of Finance, Accounting, Data, and Technology. This is not a traditional accounting role and does not require software engineering expertise. Instead, inKind seeks a systems-oriented problem solver who excels at understanding how processes work, breaking complex workflows into logical steps, working with financial data, and diagnosing issues when systems malfunction.
You will spend significant time in NetSuite alongside Google Sheets, SQL, internal data sources, integrations, and third-party platforms. You do not need to be an expert programmer, but you must be comfortable examining unfamiliar processes, datasets, formulas, queries, or logic and methodically determining how they function.
**Finance & Accounting Operations:**
Operate and maintain recurring accounting and finance workflows including cash transaction categorization, journal entry preparation and uploads, reconciliations, and weekly/monthly reporting. Work extensively within NetSuite to support accounting operations, investigate issues, manage imports, and maintain accurate financial information. Manage inputs and outputs of automated finance processes, including data validation, CSV preparation and uploads, exception handling, and transaction-level corrections. Adapt established processes to accommodate one-off transactions and new business scenarios. Support weekly and monthly accounting close activities.
**Systems, Data & Automation:**
Monitor automated financial data flows from source systems through accounting, forecasting, and reporting outputs. Ensure continued availability, completeness, and accuracy of transaction history, balances, forecasts, and other financial information. Build, maintain, and troubleshoot automated financial workflows across accounting systems, internal data sources, and third-party platforms. Investigate issues across Google Sheets logic, SQL queries, CSV imports, integrations, NetSuite, and other systems. Trace data through multiple systems to identify error origins. Independently resolve routine systems and data issues while identifying source, scope, and escalation paths for complex problems.
**Process Improvement & Problem Solving:**
Break complex financial processes into clear, logical steps and identify simplification or automation opportunities. Understand existing formulas, queries, scripts, integrations, and workflows well enough to troubleshoot and improve them. Identify repetitive manual processes that could be standardized, automated, or eliminated. Support implementation of new products, systems, and business processes as they interact with Accounting and Finance. Create ad-hoc reporting, tools, and analyses to answer business questions. Partner across Finance, Accounting, Product, Engineering, Data, and other teams to translate requirements into practical solutions. Document processes and workflows for scalability and maintainability.
**Requirements:**
Strong systems thinking—naturally breaking problems into inputs, rules, dependencies, outputs, and exceptions. Strong numerical intuition and ability to recognize when financial data does not make sense. Comfort working with large datasets and identifying patterns, anomalies, and inconsistencies. Ability to approach ambiguous problems with limited context and determine what questions need answering first. Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader process or business objective. Comfort learning unfamiliar systems, tools, formulas, and technical concepts independently. Ability to read and reason through existing formulas, queries, or code even without developer background. Ability to troubleshoot systematically rather than relying on trial and error. Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical or financial processes in straightforward terms.
Valuable experience includes: NetSuite or another ERP/accounting platform; advanced Google Sheets or Excel; SQL and relational data; large structured datasets; financial reporting and reconciliation; APIs, integrations, or third-party data connectors; automated workflows or low-code automation tools; financial or accounting data structures. Deep expertise in every tool is not required. inKind prioritizes your ability to understand unfamiliar systems, reason through problems, and learn quickly over expertise in a particular programming language.
