Passes is a creator platform empowering creators to grow and connect with their audiences. The company is seeking a Finance Manager to lead all financial operations following the departure of the current Head of Finance.
This role owns the entire finance function with significant autonomy and strategic responsibility. You will manage day-to-day financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis. Key responsibilities include managing payroll via Rippling, headcount cost modeling, PNL reporting to leadership, cash flow monitoring, and budget tracking through Ramp. You will ensure financial compliance including tax filings, GAAP-aligned reporting, and audit readiness, while implementing internal controls and financial policies.
The role involves hands-on work in Passes' proprietary system and Mercury for manual payouts, vendor invoicing, and payments operations. You will partner closely with the technical team to understand how payment flows affect the books. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Head of People on sales compensation structures, commission modeling, and compensation benchmarking.
The company values startup experience and comfort with ambiguity. You should be prepared to engage with fundraising and M&A conversations, identify and mitigate financial risk, and stay current on payments compliance as the platform scales. Strong proficiency with AI tools—particularly Claude—is essential to operate at a senior level.
Tech stack: Mercury, Ramp, Rippling, Claude, Microsoft Office (Excel), Google Suite.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 1–4 years of finance role experience (flexibility for less experienced candidates with exceptional academic or professional background)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong fluency with AI tools, particularly Claude (hard requirement)
- Comfortable owning a full department with limited senior backup
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
