Stadium Live Studios is building Stadium Vault, a mobile app that digitizes the experience of collecting trading cards (Pokémon, One Piece) and sports cards by letting users "rip packs" from the app while collecting rewards. The company has crossed 8-figure GMV and is backed by Union Square Ventures, KB Partners, Kevin Durant's 35VC, and the founder of NBA Top Shot. They've raised $15M to date. You will be Stadium Live Studios' first in-house finance hire, reporting directly to the CEO. The role has two phases: foundation and strategic. **Foundation Phase:** Your immediate priority is transitioning accounting from an external provider to an in-house operation. You'll own system selection and implementation (QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite), data migration, historical cleanup, and a smooth handover. You'll establish and maintain the chart of accounts, ensuring line items are clean and useful for decision-making. You'll close the books monthly on a tight timeline, managing accruals, prepaids, inventory, and deferred revenue. You'll run reconciliations across bank accounts, payment processors, payout/withdrawal flows, inventory, and buyback activity. You'll maintain cash flow health through a rolling 13-week forecast, AP/AR tracking, and visibility into payouts and inventory spend. You'll coordinate with external accountants and advisors on year-end, tax filings (Canada/US, sales tax/GST/HST), and any audit or review. You'll also establish controls, policies, and processes that allow finance to scale with the business. **Strategic Finance Phase:** As the foundation solidifies, your role will expand into strategic finance: building and maintaining the company financial model with projections, unit economics, and scenario planning; running budget vs. actuals with leadership and converting variances into decisions; and playing a critical role in capital raises by assessing opportunities, owning the data room, and generating investor reporting and board materials. The role offers exposure to high-impact decision-making at a high-velocity startup with real revenue, real users, and a genuine shot at becoming the defining platform in gamified TCG and sports commerce. **Requirements:** - CPA designation (CPA, CA or CPA, CMA) - 4–8 years of experience, ideally starting at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm and then moving in-house at a startup or scale-up - Owned a monthly close end-to-end, not just contributed to one - Led or played a major role in an accounting-system migration (QuickBooks, Xero, or NetSuite) - Some FP&A experience: can build a financial model from scratch or have influenced successful strategic initiatives - Obsessive about clean books and practical about startup priorities - AI-native or eager to be; have used AI tools to do the work of a bigger team - Excel in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with a strong bias toward action - Excellent written communication; can explain numbers clearly to non-finance stakeholders - Interest in TCGs (Pokémon, One Piece), sports cards, collectibles, or gaming **Nice to Have:** - Experience in gaming, fintech, payments, or marketplaces, especially revenue recognition for those models - Experience with inventory accounting for physical goods - Experience with cross-border (US/CA) tax or sales tax - Fundraising support experience: data rooms, due diligence, investor reporting
