Anduril Industries is seeking a Field Test Engineer to join its Maritime operations team in Quincy, Massachusetts. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on planning, executing, and analyzing at-sea test events for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and subsea systems. You will serve as the critical link between engineering and real-world ocean operations, validating hardware and software performance in demanding offshore conditions.
Key responsibilities include: leading day-to-day operations for multiple AUVs and subsea platforms; conducting pre-mission testing, launch and recovery, vehicle tasking, and data analysis; troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining AUVs in the field; writing and executing test plans during sea testing; coordinating with third-party vendors and logistics partners; authoring detailed operational test reports; supporting software UI design feedback; generating user documentation; participating in design reviews to improve operability; and contributing to next-generation maritime product designs. You will deploy globally approximately 50% of the time in support of maritime operations from various support vessel types.
Required qualifications: 3+ years operating robotic systems at-sea in commercial or research offshore environments; experience leading on-deck operations with ship-based cranes and launch/recovery systems; hands-on subsea equipment deployment and recovery experience; proficiency with Linux, command-line interfaces, and software debugging; electronics troubleshooting and test equipment knowledge; Microsoft Excel proficiency; strong organizational and detail-oriented mindset; demonstrated subsea operational procedures expertise; excellent communication and customer support skills; ability to lift 50 lbs; willingness to deploy up to 50% of the time; and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include software development experience, subsea acoustic sensor and underwater navigation system integration experience, ability to read engineering drawings and specifications, and knowledge of offshore HSE policies.
