Skydio is seeking a Field Support Representative to serve as a products ambassador and technical liaison for autonomous drone systems deployed in utility and critical infrastructure environments. You will provide advanced technical support, onsite training, and operational guidance to utility customers, state and local government agencies, and first responders using Skydio's UAS (unmanned aerial systems) and cloud platforms. In this role, you will combine UAS operations experience with deep Skydio product knowledge to deliver best-in-class support across remote and onsite engagements. Key responsibilities include: • Act as the primary technical liaison between Skydio and utility customers, responding to advanced support questions from UAS program managers, inspectors, and field crews. • Help customers deploy and scale drone-in-a-box programs, including Skydio Dock installations at substations and remote assets, remote and BVLOS (beyond visual line of sight) operations, and automated inspection missions. • Troubleshoot UAS command and control (C2) and cloud networking issues, leveraging knowledge of Internet protocols, cellular modems, and wireless point-to-point radios in enterprise, IoT, and utility OT/IT network environments. • Perform device firmware troubleshooting, inspection mission configuration and optimization, and cloud network diagnostics using log analysis tools and customer incident tickets. • Provide onsite training to customers on maintenance and operation techniques for UAS aircraft and docks, with attention to utility safety protocols and site access requirements. • Develop field support processes that define escalation and debugging workflows, reducing technical escalations to engineering teams. • Serve as a technical resource to training and content teams, improving customer self-help materials. • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Program Management teams to ensure utility inspection and asset management needs are reflected in product enhancements. • Stay current with network product trends and industry developments, advising on network strategy and best practices for Skydio Docks and remote flight operations. You will work both remotely and at customer sites such as substations, transmission and distribution corridors, and generation facilities. Travel to regional customer sites is expected 40–60% of the time or as needed. REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum 3 years of UAS operations and flight experience; utility, energy, or critical infrastructure inspection experience strongly preferred. • Experience in operational, technical, customer-facing, or field support roles, ideally supporting electric or gas utilities, energy providers, or their contractors. • Familiarity with utility inspection use cases: transmission and distribution line inspection, substation monitoring, storm damage assessment, vegetation management. • Comfort working on or near energized infrastructure and ability to follow utility safety protocols, site access procedures, and PPE requirements. • Proficiency in onsite, real-time technical troubleshooting and problem-solving; familiarity with triage and escalation workflows. • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; assertive self-starter mentality. • Ability to multitask and manage multiple concurrent projects to resolution. • Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-hours and weekend support on rotation or as-needed basis (e.g., storm response). • Ability to work at different sites locally and travel regionally up to 40–60% of the time. • Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged; BVLOS waiver or remote operations experience is a plus. • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce and Jira experience a plus). • Strong experience supporting and troubleshooting IoT or enterprise applications using streaming and packet networks and streaming APIs (WebRTC, REST). • Demonstrated expertise troubleshooting and optimizing network-connected devices streaming content over WiFi mesh and carrier mobile networks. • Demonstrated experience solving complex problems involving enterprise, utility, or field networks, APIs, and third-party integrations (asset management, GIS platforms). • Familiarity with utility cybersecurity and compliance considerations (e.g., NERC CIP) and deploying connected devices on utility networks is a plus.
