Salary: USD 90,000 - 110,000 / annual
Element Biosciences is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support its growing customer base in the Southeast region. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Field Service Engineering and is fully remote, based in the Southeast.
You will play a pivotal role in providing onsite installation, qualification, upgrades, repairs, and preventative maintenance service on next-generation sequencers. Your responsibilities include identifying root causes and resolving product issues in the field with support when needed, displaying professionalism and technical knowledge in all customer interactions, implementing policies for spare parts handling (ordering, usage, returns, physical count, car stock management), and utilizing service CRM software to accurately document work in a timely manner.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about customer support and technical problem-solving. You will work with complex laboratory equipment involving chemistry, software, and hardware components, and will be responsible for managing field operations across your assigned region.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate or Bachelor Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience in engineering, physics, biology, chemistry, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and industry experience)
- Ability to troubleshoot issues with complex laboratory equipment involving chemistry, software, and hardware
- Strong time management, problem-solving, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Experience with NGS sequencing instruments and sequencing run setup (preferred)
- Experience servicing scientific instrumentation involving optics, fluid handling, and thermal systems (preferred)
- Experience with multiple full life cycle product launches (preferred)
- Proficiency with data collection and analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, C++, or Java) (preferred)
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy (preferred, section cut off in excerpt)
