Ultima Genomics is a well-funded life sciences technology company developing groundbreaking genomics sequencing technologies. The company has raised approximately $600 million and brings together expertise across healthcare, life sciences, engineering, and software. As a Field Service Engineer II, you will provide on-site technical support to customers primarily in the Phoenix, Arizona area. Your responsibilities include installing and repairing company instrumentation, troubleshooting technical issues, managing lab inventories, and maintaining detailed records of hardware configurations, software versions, and consumables. You will review technical reports from customers, analyze issues with internal technical staff to identify root causes, and communicate findings and timelines back to customers. A key part of the role is managing the customer interface with R&D groups, maintaining strong working relationships, and ensuring customer confidence in the company and its products. You will summarize and escalate issues to development engineers for triage, participate in root cause analysis investigations, and help exceed customer expectations for service and product support. The role requires up to 20% domestic and international travel. Required qualifications include a BS in a scientific or engineering field and 2-5 years of relevant engineering or field service experience, preferably in biotech or capital equipment industries. You must have hands-on experience with electro-mechanical assembly, server installations, and instrumentation troubleshooting. Strong technical documentation and schematic interpretation skills (electrical, wiring, fluidic, mechanical) are essential. You should be detail-oriented, organized, and an excellent communicator. A valid US driver's license is required.
