Salary: USD 113,000 - 149,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join the Deployment Operations group's Counter Intrusion team in Costa Mesa, California. This role is part of the Technical Operations team responsible for deploying and supporting Anduril's advanced defense systems globally.
You will be responsible for executing technical operations, conducting field maintenance, and providing customer support and training for military defense projects. Your work will involve tackling complex issues at the intersection of hardware, software, and networking in unstructured field environments. Key responsibilities include supporting military defense projects through field maintenance and customer support, troubleshooting hardware/software/networking issues, communicating field issue status to internal and customer teams, developing operational and logistical plans, ensuring high availability of defense systems, maintaining support plans, assisting in event planning and resource allocation, conducting incident response root-cause analyses, and maintaining documentation.
You must be both a teacher and a student—coaching teammates on systems you've mastered while continuously learning new ones. You'll guide users through product employment and troubleshooting, advise account managers on operational structuring, and communicate product refinement recommendations to engineering teams.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of strong problem-solving in unstructured environments at the interface of hardware, software, and networking. You must be able to climb towers to install, maintain, and repair sensor equipment (cameras, radars, pan-tilt units), possess strong mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting critical site infrastructure (generators, solar power systems, hydraulic systems), have experience with preventative maintenance on tower structures, and be able to operate specialized equipment like aerial lifts and forklifts. Extensive travel to remote regions (up to 2 months at a time, at least 50% annually) is required. You must be able to relocate to Costa Mesa if not already local and be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret/Secret clearance.
Preferred qualifications include a B.S. in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, or related field; prior tower climbing experience with relevant certifications (Tower Climbing, OSHA 10/30); valid Commercial Driver's License; working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and Linux command line interfaces; and prior military or overseas contracting experience.
