Harbinger Motors is an American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company developing next-generation medium-duty EVs and hybrids. As a Field Quality Engineer for Vehicle Systems and Integration, you will serve as the front-line technical expert diagnosing complex issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains in deployed vehicles.
You will own failure analysis and troubleshooting for systemic problems, using hands-on investigation and advanced data analytics to identify root causes before they impact customers. Key responsibilities include:
• Conducting failure analysis and root cause investigation across mechanical systems (chassis, drivetrain), electrical architectures (HV systems, wiring harnesses), and software integration (CAN bus communication, OTA updates)
• Performing predictive reliability analysis using statistical tools to forecast potential failure modes in the fleet
• Partnering with hardware and software engineering teams to implement reliability growth plans and translate field data into actionable design improvements
• Managing field performance data—ensuring it is clean, categorized, and routed to engineering teams for rapid iteration
• Collaborating cross-functionally with Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Actions (CAPA)
• Communicating technical findings clearly to executive leadership and engineering teams
You will work in both field and lab settings, traveling to customer sites as needed. This role requires comfort troubleshooting under vehicles and in real-world conditions where solutions aren't found in manuals.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• 3–10 years of experience in Field Quality, Reliability Engineering, or highly technical Service Engineering roles within the EV or automotive space
• Strong proficiency in data management tools (SQL, Python, or specialized BI platforms)
• Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools (Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, CANalyzer/CANoe)
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed
