Anduril Industries is seeking a Field Operations Manager to lead the Dive-XL team within the Maritime division. This role manages a team of Field Test Engineers responsible for advancing autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capabilities across government defense programs.
Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring field test engineers to operationalize cutting-edge AUV technology; planning and executing day-to-day operations and multi-week test events for multiple AUV platforms; coordinating test execution with government customers, partners, vendors, and logistics providers; and deploying globally to support at-sea AUV operations from various support vessels. You will manage technical details, match personnel skills to assigned tasks, and mitigate operational risks.
Additional duties involve collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate advanced equipment; supporting creation and execution of test plans during at-sea testing; reviewing operational documentation; contributing to next-generation vehicle system design; and supporting hiring and resource planning across defense programs. Travel is approximately 50% of the time, often for multiple weeks offshore.
Required qualifications include proven leadership and management experience with technical proficiency in software engineering, mechanical engineering, systems engineering, or ocean engineering. You must demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments, and proven problem-solving in unstructured situations. Extensive hands-on field operations, systems administration, or test experience is essential, along with demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional engineering teams and government customers. An active NV1 security clearance (NV2 preferred) is mandatory.
Preferred experience includes developing strategic plans for deploying robotic systems, managing teams operating complex systems in maritime environments, integrating subsea acoustic sensors and underwater navigation systems, developing operational procedures, familiarity with government acquisition processes, leading on-deck operations, strong mechanical aptitude, and government customer interface experience.
