Swarmer develops autonomous drone software enabling large coordinated teams of unmanned systems to operate without pilots. As a Field Integration Technician, you will deploy, configure, and troubleshoot advanced unmanned systems (aerial, ground, and surface vehicles) in field operations. You'll perform real-time software integration using platforms like Betaflight and ArduPilot, lead diagnostic efforts for hardware and firmware issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to validate performance and implement field-driven improvements.
Key responsibilities include: deploying and configuring unmanned systems across multiple platforms; performing system software integration and modifications; troubleshooting hardware, firmware, and software in dynamic field environments; writing and modifying scripts in Python and C++ for mission-specific automation; integrating automation algorithms into live systems; implementing and troubleshooting MAVLink communication protocols; and maintaining detailed documentation of field activities and configurations.
You should have proven experience with unmanned systems design, build, integration, and deployment; proficiency configuring flight controllers (ArduPilot, PX4); strong programming skills in automation and embedded development; hands-on MAVLink experience; familiarity with RF communications and sensor integration; deep understanding of embedded Linux systems and networking (netplan, iptables, systemd-networkd); experience with VPNs and secure remote access; knowledge of UAV hardware ecosystems including flight controllers, sensors, and communication systems; and experience with microcontrollers and hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO). Background in electrical/mechanical engineering or computer science is advantageous but not required—equivalent field experience is preferred. The role requires 40% travel for field demonstrations.
