Salary: USD 140,000 - 290,000 / annual
Scale AI is hiring a Field Data Engineer to join the Federal Engineering team, supporting government customers with onsite AI solutions. You'll design and implement data pipelines, ETL processes, and integrations that connect customer systems to Scale's platform. The role requires >50% onsite work in a secured facility and involves deploying Scale software at customer sites, developing customer-requested features, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product adoption and customer success.
Key responsibilities include: scoping and developing onsite solutions; building end-to-end data integrations to sync customer data to Scale's platform and back; deploying and maintaining Scale software at customer sites; developing features based on customer feedback; building robust backend systems; and participating actively in customer engagements to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions.
Ideal candidates have: experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development; knowledge of data modeling, warehousing, and governance; a track record as a hybrid customer-facing or forward-deployed engineer; Python development experience; familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP); understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes); Linux and shell scripting knowledge; networking fundamentals; and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
This role requires an active Secret clearance and willingness to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
