Aalyria is a leading aerospace technology company specializing in laser communications and software-defined networking platforms for satellite and airborne mesh networks. The company, which acquired technology from Google, is at the forefront of cislunar and deep-space communications innovation.
As a Field Engineer, you will be the critical link between Aalyria's technology platforms—Tightbeam (free-space optical terminals) and Spacetime (SATCOM orchestration)—and the customers who depend on them for mission success. This is a versatile role requiring deployment to customer sites, test ranges, and demo locations across terrestrial, airborne, shipborne, and satellite environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deploy to customer sites and test ranges to install, configure, and operate Tightbeam free-space optical terminals and Spacetime/SATCOM systems
- Lead site surveys, installation, optical alignment, configuration, and commissioning for diverse communications deployments
- Perform hands-on mechanical assembly and integration across hardware and mechanisms
- Execute optical fiber termination and handling work
- Set up and configure SATCOM terminals and integrate systems into customer network environments
- Troubleshoot complex issues spanning optical subsystems, RF/transceiver behavior, mechanical mounts, and network integration in time-sensitive field environments
- Monitor systems during demos and test events; track, download, and interpret performance data in real time
The role is deliberately structured for breadth over narrow specialization. You'll move fluidly between Spacetime and Tightbeam platforms as mission needs shift. The strongest candidates bring comfort across electronics, software, optics, RF, mechanisms, and cabling—or are eager to develop these skills. This cross-platform capability is a genuine asset, not a distraction.
