Datadog seeks a Field CTO for Japan to lead the company's go-to-market technical strategy across the region. This is a senior technical leadership role within the Product Solutions Architecture (PSA) organization, serving as a trusted advisor and technical multiplier for Datadog's most strategic customers and prospects.
Key responsibilities include:
• Strategic Advisory: Guide C-level executives (CIO, CTO, CEO, CISO) through observability adoption journeys, investment decisions, and operational implementation strategies.
• Go-to-Market Leadership: Identify industry-specific trends and their business impact during customer engagements. Feed insights to Product, GTM, and Architecture teams. Co-create vertical-specific solutions with Product Solutions Architects and Product Management.
• Thought Leadership: Demonstrate Datadog's platform capabilities and establish yourself as an observability and security expert, showcasing advanced solutions, industry best practices, and organizational visibility at scale.
• Sales Enablement: Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales leadership on ROI, value realization, and white-space analysis. Develop opportunity and adoption strategies for key customers within your vertical expertise.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with PSA, Sales, Sales Engineering, and Marketing to deliver high-quality technical resources to practitioners and economic buyers.
• Executive Engagement: Lead architecture and design engagements for strategic customers. Facilitate Executive Briefing Center conversations on architecture, observability best practices, and industry trends.
• Talent Development: Assist leadership in recruiting and hiring top talent for PSA and Field CTO teams.
Required qualifications: 15+ years of enterprise or application architecture experience at scale, with deep knowledge of observability, cloud, and technological shifts in the Japan market. Strong stakeholder management skills with VP+ and C-level executives. Hands-on technical credibility. Excellent presentation and communication abilities. Native-level Japanese with strong English proficiency. Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (Master's preferred). Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
