The Field Applications Engineer bridges engineering expertise with customer-facing technical sales and support. This role combines pre-sales technical engagement, hands-on engineering support, and clear communication of complex systems to diverse audiences.
Key responsibilities include supporting pre-sales technical engagements with customers and partners, answering technical questions during evaluations and procurement, translating customer requirements into technical recommendations, developing technical materials for proposals and documentation, collaborating with engineering and product teams to communicate capabilities accurately, assisting with hardware setup and field support, and representing the company at customer meetings and industry events.
Required qualifications: BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 3+ years in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or FAE roles; strong embedded systems background including firmware/hardware integration; comfort with PCB hardware, embedded devices, and drone systems; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to explain complex topics clearly; confident and extroverted customer interaction; strong technical writing for proposals and documentation; practical hands-on mindset for lab and field work.
Advantages include experience with drones, robotics, RF systems, or edge AI; Linux-based embedded systems familiarity; enterprise/defense/government customer support experience; wireless communications or autonomous systems exposure; technical proposal and grant writing experience.
