Apera AI is a Vancouver-based robotics and AI company that has won the 2025 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Leadership Award and 2024 BC Tech "Company of the Year, Growth." The company develops 4D Vision software that enables robots to see and grasp objects with human-like capability, solving challenging manufacturing applications like bin picking, sorting, packaging, and assembly for leading automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. As a Field Application Engineer, you will be the primary technical point of contact for customers across Europe, responsible for planning, simulating, and deploying vision-guided robotics applications. You will combine technical expertise with consultative guidance, working directly with plant managers, automation engineers, and operations teams to identify where Apera's technology creates value. Key responsibilities include: leading on-site installations and commissioning of Apera's vision software, including site assessments, system configuration, calibration, and customer sign-off; delivering hands-on training and building trusted customer relationships; providing consultative guidance to help customers understand and expand what the technology can do; diagnosing and resolving post-installation issues systematically; and capturing field learnings to feed back into product improvements. You will be supported by direct mentorship from Apera's European Technical Lead as you build expertise and customer relationships across the region. Travel is a core part of this role—expect to be on-site across Europe up to 75% of the time in some months, with initial training travel to Canada or the US in your first month. You bring experience in robotics, machine vision, industrial automation, or a closely related technical field, with comfort on production floors and familiarity with manufacturing operations. You are a natural communicator who adapts fluidly between technical calibration sessions and consultative conversations with senior operations leaders. You are genuinely motivated by customer empowerment and understanding, not just task completion. Fluency in German and English is required; additional European languages are valued.
