Scentbird is seeking a Facility Engineer to oversee the maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of its manufacturing and fulfillment facilities in Bethlehem, PA. This role reports to the Associate Director of Facilities & Engineering and is central to optimizing facility operations across multiple sites.
You will be responsible for assessing facility resource requirements, supporting and optimizing facility layouts and critical operational systems, and overseeing the maintenance of building infrastructure and equipment. Key responsibilities include:
• Planning, implementing, and maintaining facility infrastructure and equipment; determining facility and equipment specifications
• Designing and overseeing construction of new facilities and equipment, ensuring they are functional, efficient, and safe
• Monitoring equipment installations and commissioning; organizing supplier training
• Performing analyses of operational processes, resource allocation, energy use, and safety; recommending and implementing improvements
• Gathering and analyzing data, blueprints, and reports; analyzing project costs and preparing budgets
• Developing processing plans and optimizing resource allocation
• Preparing reports and compliance documentation
• Developing and implementing utility plans, performing system evaluations, and establishing operational efficiency
• Managing projects cohesively by working with manufacturing operations, safety, environmental, quality, accounting, sourcing, and other stakeholders
• Collaborating with Operations to plan and coordinate placement, installation, relocation, and configuration of facility infrastructure (racking, shelving, furniture, workstations) to support operational needs and safety
• Responding to emergencies, reducing risk, and minimizing losses and downtime
• Developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs; planning and coordinating infrastructure and equipment maintenance schedules
• Leading effective use of the site's CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to support preventive maintenance scheduling, work order management, equipment history, and continuous improvement
• Managing and coordinating maintenance, inspection, repair, and service programs for facility material handling and mobile equipment
• Managing and supervising facility maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors
• Maintaining HVAC systems, USP water, boilers, compressed air, hot water, and electricity to meet production targets
• Maintaining facilities to acceptable levels of FDA, OSHA, and environmental agency compliance
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards
You are hands-on and proactive—finding problems before being told about them. You move fluidly between spreadsheets and the production floor, communicate clearly with both contractors and leadership, stay calm under pressure, and take ownership of problems until they are truly solved. You work effectively across teams (Operations, Quality, EHS&S) without requiring formal handoffs.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
• 3+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in a regulated environment (FDA)
• Experience with AutoCAD, NetSuite, and MS Office
• Familiarity with CMMS platforms for preventive maintenance and work order management
• Knowledge of building processes and construction principles
