The company serves over 2,500 colleagues worldwide and operates in over 190 countries and territories, offering solutions including global payments, compliance, multi-currency management, workforce management, working capital, and business intelligence.
The Regulatory Counsel, Europe role is responsible for providing legal advice and strategy on significant regulatory matters for Payoneer across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and other European jurisdictions. This position is based in Dublin or London and reports to the Global Regulatory Counsel in New York City.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing legal advice on complex payments and financial services regulatory matters in Europe
- Supporting Ireland and UK management, compliance, and finance teams in maintaining strong regulator relationships
- Researching and analyzing evolving regulations across multiple markets and tracking regulatory changes that may impact strategic goals
- Liaising with outside counsel in the region
- Supporting business, marketing, and other teams in developing new services and fostering cross-functional relationships
The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker who can handle diverse legal issues, communicate effectively at all organizational levels, and provide practical advice on matters of significant importance. The role requires flexibility for occasional travel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Eligible to work and live in Ireland or the United Kingdom
- Qualified to practice law in Ireland or the United Kingdom
- Minimum 6-7 years of legal experience, including experience providing legal advice to the financial services industry
- Payments industry and electronic money institution experience preferred
- Experience working directly with regulators and regulatory authorities is advantageous but not strictly required
- Ability to evaluate fact situations, identify legal issues, analyze statutes and regulations, and recommend appropriate courses of action
- Ability to provide practical legal advice and recommendations to internal stakeholders on matters of significant importance
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Ability to handle diverse issues and provide high-level service in a friendly and professional manner
- Strong communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels
