CoLab Software is an AI-powered engineering platform that helps mechanical engineering teams bring complex products (cars, medical devices, jet engines) to market faster. The company has raised $72M in Series C funding, was ranked #57 fastest-growing company in North America by Deloitte, and counts customers like Bombardier, Bobcat, Triumph Motorcycles, and GE Appliances. The team has grown to 250+ employees.
As the first Executive Recruiter, you will own full-cycle search for CoLab's most senior and hardest-to-fill roles: Major Account Executives, Sales Directors, customer success, marketing, revenue leadership, and executive hires across the company. You will be a trusted advisor to the executive team and hiring managers, not an order-taker, and will have autonomy to design how executive search operates at CoLab, including decisions about when to engage external search firms.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end search for Director, VP, and C-level GTM roles from intake through offer acceptance and onboarding
- Build and execute sourcing strategies including market mapping, target company lists, and direct outreach to passive candidates
- Partner with executives and hiring managers to define role outcomes, scorecards, and compensation positioning
- Run rigorous assessment processes aligned to CoLab's standards, including structured interviews, work samples, and reference checks
- Craft compelling CoLab narratives for senior candidates and manage complex offer negotiations involving equity, relocation, and counteroffers
- Build and maintain a long-term executive and GTM talent pipeline
- Design the executive search playbook and determine when to use external partners
- Report on search health metrics (pipeline, time-to-fill, pass-through rates, offer acceptance, quality of hire)
You will work closely with the People Team, Talent Acquisition, and Senior Leadership Team. The role is based in St. John's, Newfoundland, but offers flexibility to work remotely from anywhere in Canada or the USA. Periodic travel is required for employee and candidate events.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-Haves:
- 8+ years of recruiting experience, with at least 4 years focused on executive or senior-level search (agency, retained search, or in-house)
- Track record of placing GTM roles and senior talent (VPs, Heads of SE/CS/Marketing, senior enterprise AEs) at B2B SaaS companies
- Strong sourcing skills; comfortable finding and engaging passive candidates without relying on inbound
- Executive presence and business acumen; able to advise C-suite, SVPs, and VPs credibly on talent market
- Experience managing complex offers, including equity and multi-stakeholder negotiations
- Excellent written communication skills
Bonus Points:
- Experience being the first executive recruiter at a Series B–D company
- Familiarity with Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, and AI-assisted sourcing tools
