In this role, you will translate scientific complexity into strategic clarity, ensuring that portfolio decisions are grounded in competitive reality and leveraging Recursion's proprietary OS and ClinTech computational advantages. Key responsibilities include: defining and driving asset strategy for small molecule clinical programs in oncology and immunology/inflammation, integrating competitive positioning, mechanistic differentiation, biomarker strategy, and patient segmentation to inform go/no-go decisions; translating Recursion OS and ClinTech insights into strategic asset advantages; developing and pressure-testing competitive narratives for each portfolio asset to inform leadership, partnership, and investor communications; partnering with functional leaders across clinical development, BD, finance, and platform teams to ensure resource allocation reflects strategic conviction; and propagating Recursion's mission of radically changing lives by continuously raising the bar on asset advancement and delivery. You will operate as a senior strategic partner to leaders in Clinical Development, Discovery, ClinTech, Platform, and Business Development. The Portfolio Team is execution-minded, analytically rigorous, and fluent in both science and AI, responsible for industrializing innovative science to advance medicines that matter. Required qualifications: PhD in life sciences or related discipline with deep expertise in drug discovery and development; 10+ years of biotech/pharma experience with proven track record of asset-level strategic leadership, advancing programs through clinical stage-gates with demonstrable portfolio impact; deep expertise in small molecule therapeutics development for oncology and immunology/inflammation (rare disease experience a bonus); experience leveraging computational approaches and data-driven platforms to sharpen asset strategy; proven ability to build and articulate strategic and competitive cases for clinical assets; strong financial acumen for cross-functional resourcing and portfolio trade-offs; and exceptional executive presence to synthesize complexity into conviction-led recommendations for senior leadership and external partners. This is a hybrid role based in New York City offices, with expectation to work in-office at least 50% of the time. Compensation includes annual base salary of $297,000–$356,400, annual bonus eligibility, equity compensation, and comprehensive benefits.
