Axiom Space is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to lead Extra-Vehicular Activity (EVA) systems engineering and integration for the AxEVA System, supporting the development of the world's first commercial space station. This is a senior technical leadership role reporting to the EVA Systems Engineering and Integration Manager, based in Webster, Texas. The role encompasses end-to-end systems engineering across the full lifecycle: concept of operations, requirements definition, design support, integration, and verification & validation (V&V). Key responsibilities include leading major testing campaigns, defining subsystem-level requirements and procurement specifications, coordinating requirement traceability and impact assessments, and planning/executing verification and validation activities for spacesuits, flight support equipment, training equipment, ground equipment, and EVA tools. You will own the definition and maintenance of integrated performance assessments, coordinate product breakdown structures and architecture, monitor design and testing progress, and communicate status to stakeholders. The role requires close collaboration with system and subsystem engineers, program office personnel, and external customers on SE&I planning, scheduling, and execution. You will develop waivers and variances, capture V&V evidence for requirement closure, and coordinate test/analysis plans with peers, management, and external partners. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or related engineering discipline; minimum 9+ years of systems engineering experience across the full lifecycle (concepts, requirements, design, integration, V&V); demonstrated experience with NASA human spaceflight programs and spacecraft/spacesuit testing; strong attention to detail with excellent written and presentation skills for senior decision-makers and technical audiences. Preferred: spacesuit experience, INCOSE CSEP certification, startup background. Key competencies: extreme ownership mindset, execution precision, high EQ, cross-functional collaboration, tech-savvy with systems tools (Jira, JAMA, Confluence), passion for space mission, accountability, and resourcefulness. This is a high-impact role for an experienced systems engineer ready to shape commercial spaceflight infrastructure.
