Bybit, a leading global cryptocurrency exchange and digital financial platform founded in 2018, is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Vienna office. The role focuses on regulatory compliance and legal support for Bybit's operations in Austria and the EU.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, particularly MiCAR, MiFID, and PSD II
- Conduct regular compliance risk assessments and audits to identify non-compliance areas and recommend corrective actions
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, providing guidance to business teams on necessary compliance adjustments
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and company policy adherence, including developing training and awareness programs
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation to meet reporting obligations
- Support the business in obtaining and maintaining necessary licenses and regulatory approvals in Austria
The ideal candidate will work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment with high integrity and discretion, serving as a key bridge between Bybit's operations and Austrian/EU regulatory frameworks.
Requirements:
- Law degree (LLB, JD, Mag. iur., LL.M., or equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of legal experience, preferably within an in-house legal team, regulatory authority, financial firm, or law firm; work experience in Austria and/or Germany preferred
- Strong understanding of Austrian and EU laws relating to regulatory compliance, particularly MiCAR, MiFID, and E-Money Directive/Payment Services Directive
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, regulated environment with high integrity and discretion
