As an Environmental Test Engineer, you will work at the intersection of all engineering disciplines to ensure hardware meets the highest quality and reliability standards. You will plan and execute environmental test campaigns for components, subsystems, and complete spacecraft, collaborating directly with production and engineering teams to drive hardware from design through qualification.
Key responsibilities include developing and implementing test procedures, standard operating procedures, and tools for environmental test operations. You will define environmental test equipment specifications, identify and qualify vendors, and implement equipment into production. You will design and build test setups, fixtures, and support hardware required to safely and effectively test flight hardware.
Additional duties involve managing test schedules, tracking milestones, and communicating progress and risk to program leadership. You will operate environmental test equipment and instrumentation, collect and process test data, and prepare comprehensive test reports for stakeholder review. You will support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action efforts for environmental test process, equipment, procedure, and fixture issues. You will also support Design for Test efforts to optimize environmental test production processes and work closely with technicians during test execution and hardware handling operations.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering discipline and 2+ years of working experience in testing electronics, electro-mechanical assemblies, or integrated systems. You must have experience performing one or more types of environmental testing (thermal, thermal vacuum, vibration, shock, acoustic, EMI/EMC, or similar) and developing and executing test plans and procedures from engineering requirements. Strong project management skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. The role requires onsite presence five days per week.
