Apex manufactures satellite buses at scale—the platforms that hold payloads for commercial spacecraft. As launch costs decrease and payload companies proliferate, demand for these platforms is surging. Apex combines software, vertical integration, and hardware-focused manufacturing to enable earth observation, communications, and other critical space applications.
The Enterprise Security Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise architectures across Apex's systems, applications, networks, and cloud environments. This is a technical leadership role responsible for developing cybersecurity strategy, risk management, security engineering, and compliance initiatives to protect information assets against evolving threats.
Key responsibilities include: designing enterprise-wide cybersecurity architecture aligned with business and technology strategies; developing secure architectures for cloud, on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments; performing threat modeling and security architecture reviews for new systems and infrastructure; designing and implementing security controls across networks, systems, endpoints, applications, and cloud platforms; leading deployment of SIEM, IDS/IPS, DLP, EDR/XDR, IAM, and vulnerability management platforms; conducting security risk assessments and vulnerability assessments; ensuring compliance with NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171/172, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, and SOC 2; providing architectural guidance during cybersecurity incidents; and mentoring junior cybersecurity engineers.
Required qualifications: 7–10+ years in cybersecurity, information security, network security, or cloud security; 3–5+ years designing security architectures or leading cybersecurity engineering initiatives; bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; experience implementing enterprise security controls and frameworks; and expertise securing AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Required technical skills span enterprise security architecture, zero trust architecture, threat modeling, network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN, network segmentation), cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP, container/Kubernetes security, infrastructure-as-code), identity and access management (Active Directory, Entra ID, SSO, MFA, OAuth, SAML, PAM), and security operations (SIEM platforms, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, threat intelligence).
Preferred: master's degree and professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, SABSA, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate, or GIAC certifications.
