ezCater is the leading food tech platform for workplace dining in the US, connecting over 125,000 restaurants with organizations seeking flexible meal solutions. The company is undertaking a major platform transformation, re-platforming its marketplace on Nova, a composable platform built from domain capabilities, while maintaining and growing the existing business.
The Enterprise Architect is the most senior individual contributor in the technology organization, reporting directly to the Chief Product and Technology Officer. This is a decision-authority role, not an advisory one. You will chair the Architecture Board and own its decision register, ensuring every open architecture decision has an owner and timeline, treating missed deadlines as program risks. You will run the Architecture Decision Record (ADR) gate that all major workstreams pass through before build, and hold standing architecture authority over foundational platform programs spanning data, identity, events, and core services.
Your responsibilities include setting the target-state architecture that connects the legacy platform, the new platform, and the migration path between them. You will pressure-test designs with senior engineers across the organization, raise the quality of technical decision-making broadly, and represent architecture directly to executive leadership. You operate through influence and decision rights rather than headcount, with the authority to say no to a VP with a deadline.
You bring 15+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on accountability for a platform transformation or re-platforming at scale, ideally in marketplace, commerce, or transactional systems. You have made and defended consequential decisions on event-driven architecture, service decomposition, data and identity modeling, and build-versus-buy tradeoffs. You write clearly—your ADRs, RFCs, and assessments are artifacts people align around. You are hands-on enough to read a design or diff and earn the respect of Principal engineers, while senior enough to exercise architectural authority in an organization where it must be established rather than inherited.
