Obsidian Security, a leading SaaS security platform trusted by Fortune 1000 and Global 2000 companies like Snowflake, T-Mobile, and Algolia, is establishing and scaling its engineering organization in Taiwan. This Engineering Tech Lead role offers hands-on technical leadership for cloud security products that ingest, process, and analyze large volumes of security data across cloud infrastructure, distributed processing pipelines, log analysis, detection systems, and customer-facing APIs.
You will define and evolve the architecture of Obsidian's cloud security platform, leading the technical design and execution of complex, cross-team engineering initiatives. Key responsibilities include designing systems that process high-volume security telemetry with strong guarantees for scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency; establishing clear service boundaries, data contracts, API standards, and integration patterns; and partnering with Detection Engineering and Security Research to turn threat models into scalable production capabilities.
Working closely with the Director of Engineering – Taiwan and engineering leaders globally (US, UK, Australia), you will improve observability, capacity planning, resilience, and operational readiness. You'll evaluate architectural tradeoffs, identify and reduce technical risk and bottlenecks, establish engineering standards for system design and code quality, and mentor senior engineers and technical leads. The ideal candidate combines strong architectural judgment with a practical, delivery-oriented mindset, remaining close to the code while helping teams navigate difficult technical decisions.
Required experience includes significant software engineering background with technical leadership of large-scale or business-critical systems, strong hands-on expertise designing and building cloud-native SaaS platforms or distributed systems, and deep experience with cloud infrastructure, high-volume data ingestion, stream/batch processing, log collection and analysis, distributed processing pipelines, scalable API design, and data storage technologies. This role is critical for establishing Obsidian's technical foundation in Taiwan as the company scales toward IPO readiness.
