Mistral is seeking an Engineering Team Lead for Developer Experience (DevEx) to lead a team of approximately five engineers responsible for building and maintaining developer tooling, infrastructure, and platforms that accelerate development velocity across the organization.
In this role, you will own both execution and delivery while remaining hands-on, splitting your time dynamically between individual contribution and leadership. You'll collaborate closely with engineering teams to ship improvements that enhance code quality, streamline workflows, and boost developer productivity across Mistral's AI platform and products including AI Studio, Le Chat, and Mistral Vibe.
Key responsibilities include:
- Empowering your team by removing obstacles, unblocking execution, and creating an environment where engineers can focus on building impactful developer tools
- Owning delivery of your team's roadmap for developer experience improvements, including CI/CD enhancements, cloud registry optimization (Docker, Azure, GCP), code analysis tools, and automated vulnerability analysis
- Partnering with engineering teams to define roadmap priorities, scope initiatives, estimate effort, and drive prioritization based on productivity impact
- Staying deeply involved in architecture design, system design, coding, peer reviews, and technical decision-making
- Defining and evolving team processes, best practices, and execution rituals
- Raising the bar by challenging engineers to take ownership, grow beyond comfort zones, and increasing team resilience through knowledge sharing and documentation
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional experience in Developer Experience, DevOps, or related fields
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Proficiency in scripting and programming languages (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go) and infrastructure-as-code tools
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams in developer tooling or infrastructure
- Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins), cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), build systems, container registries, and developer tooling
- Experience with cross-functional collaboration and project management for infrastructure initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to ship developer tooling and platforms end-to-end
