Pulsora, a well-funded Silicon Valley enterprise sustainability software startup founded in 2021, is seeking an Engineering Quality Lead to drive product quality across the entire software development lifecycle. This is a hands-on leadership role combining software engineering expertise, AI-assisted development, intelligent automation, and quality strategy to prevent defects before they reach customers. You will lead engineering teams (both software developers and QA engineers) to build quality into every release. Key responsibilities include analyzing production defects and support tickets using AI to trace root causes, reviewing pull requests and production code, identifying recurring defect patterns, and building defect taxonomies. You'll use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini) to generate and review automated tests (Playwright, API, integration, regression, edge-case), integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines, and improve automation coverage across teams. You will coach developers on engineering best practices, coach QA engineers on AI-assisted automation, drive engineering accountability through root cause reviews, and challenge poor engineering practices. You'll define engineering standards, improve engineering quality metrics, and drive measurable reductions in production defects. Additional responsibilities include analyzing escaped defects, identifying recurring issues, defining corrective and preventive actions, improving code review quality, and enhancing engineering productivity through AI. Required qualifications: 8+ years professional software engineering experience, 4+ years hands-on software development (coding), proven experience leading teams with both developers and QA engineers, demonstrated success using AI tools to improve engineering practices, strong Java and/or Python development experience, strong software architecture understanding, CI/CD expertise, excellent debugging and root cause analysis skills, and willingness to work core India business hours while collaborating with global teams. Ideal candidates have industry knowledge of ESG and sustainability. Pulsora offers competitive salary, equity, and benefits. The role is hybrid-friendly with in-office expectations 2-3 times per week for those in New York, San Francisco Bay Area, or Munich offices.
