You will join as Engineering Operations Lead, reporting to the CTO and working closely with the Engineering Leadership Team. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role combining technical expertise, delivery management and operational improvement.
Your primary responsibilities include:
ATLASSIAN PLATFORM & ENGINEERING OPERATIONS: Own and transform the Atlassian ecosystem (Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management), improving configurations, workflows, permissions and platform governance. Standardise engineering workflows across Engineering, Product, Platform and QA teams. Build automation and integrations connecting Jira with GitLab, Slack and CI/CD tooling. Maintain secure, reliable platforms supporting PCI DSS, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance. Drive platform adoption through documentation, training and self-service capabilities.
TECHNOLOGY DELIVERY, GOVERNANCE & CTO OFFICE: Establish consistent delivery governance and planning approaches. Develop dashboards and reporting covering DORA metrics, cycle time, throughput, sprint predictability and defect trends. Support release readiness by coordinating visibility into defects, testing progress, dependencies and operational risks. Track key initiatives, milestones and dependencies across teams, proactively escalating blockers. Strengthen incident and problem management processes. Partner with the CTO to translate technology priorities into structured initiatives and prepare executive reporting. Identify recurring operational challenges and work with engineering leaders to improve predictability and execution.
AI, AUTOMATION & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: Develop workflows, integrations and lightweight internal tools using APIs, scripting and automation platforms. Explore and implement AI agents, intelligent reporting, ticket triage and knowledge retrieval solutions. Strengthen documentation and knowledge sharing across Confluence. Reduce manual administration and eliminate duplicated processes. Evaluate emerging AI and automation capabilities with appropriate governance.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong experience in technology operations, technical delivery management, engineering operations or similar role within a software engineering environment
- Demonstrable hands-on expertise administering and improving Jira (workflows, schemes, permissions, automation, dashboards, integrations)
- Good understanding of Agile/Scrum/Kanban, SDLC, engineering delivery processes, release management and delivery governance
- Experience coordinating technical initiatives, managing dependencies, identifying delivery risks and improving accountability across engineering teams
- Familiarity with engineering performance metrics (DORA, cycle time, throughput, defect trends, delivery predictability)
- Practical experience with AI-assisted development, workflow automation, APIs or scripting
- Comfortable with Confluence, Jira Service Management, GitHub, Slack and modern engineering tooling
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience translating operational data into actionable reporting
- Confident partnering with CTOs, Engineering leaders and senior stakeholders
- Proactive, hands-on approach balancing platform administration, operational delivery and improvement initiatives
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, experience with distributed cross-functional teams
NICE TO HAVE:
- CTO Office, Engineering Operations or Technical Programme Management experience
- Atlassian certifications or experience with Jira Cloud, REST APIs, ScriptRunner, Forge or Rovo
- Experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, n8n or similar automation tools
- Experience developing AI-powered internal tools, LLM integrations or agentic workflows
- Engineering analytics, release governance, incident management or IT service management experience
- FinTech, SaaS or scale-up environment experience with PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 exposure
