Salary: USD 255,000 - 265,000 / annual
Berkshire Grey is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers in developing robotics and AI solutions that enhance operational efficiency for customers. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, AI, and software engineering, requiring both technical depth and people leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee and develop a team of software engineers, understanding individual strengths and growth areas
- Conduct regular check-ins with technical leads to assess needs and provide mentorship
- Manage team performance, sprint planning, and clear communication of tasks and deadlines
- Maintain oversight of development platform availability and resource allocation
- Coordinate with adjacent teams to ensure program success
- Manage customer demonstrations and field deployments
- Provide technical guidance on product manufacturing, commissioning, and fielded product support
- Maintain deep technical understanding of robotic software and hardware solutions, capable of contributing to troubleshooting and commissioning
The role requires regular presence at the Bedford, MA office, though telecommuting is available for those based in the region. Approximately 5% domestic travel annually is expected.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 8+ years of progressive software development experience (or master's degree with 6+ years). Candidates must demonstrate 4+ years of Python or C++ experience, 2+ years with version control systems (Git), 4+ years of Linux system programming, 3+ years in a technical lead role, 4+ years in Agile environments, and 3+ years with robotics, parallel/distributed processing, machine learning, or hardware control.
