The Verifications team owns one of Checkr's most expansive product portfolios, including employment and education verifications, drug and occupational health screenings, reference checks, and right-to-work products. These products serve enterprise customers across diverse industries and regulatory environments, requiring rapid iteration and compliance expertise.
As Engineering Manager for Verifications, you will lead a team responsible for a broad surface area of screening products. Your focus will span both immediate system scalability and long-term delivery process refinement. Near-term priorities include scaling data quality and automation systems to handle rapid growth. Longer-term, you'll invest in expanding coverage and building a faster, more consistent verification experience.
Key responsibilities include: leading and growing the engineering team with attention to technical direction, performance, and career development; owning reliability and quality across a portfolio of fulfillment integrations; partnering with Product to define roadmap priorities across employment, education, drug/health, and compliance products; driving technical strategy for scaling complex, integration-heavy systems; leading adoption of AI-assisted development practices while maintaining quality standards; and representing Verifications in cross-functional planning with Product, Compliance, and Engineering leadership.
You bring 4+ years as an engineering manager with a track record of building high-performing teams, plus 8+ years as a software engineer with strong command of service architecture, distributed systems, and system design. You have experience managing complex third-party integration environments and a track record of improving operational metrics in high-stakes production environments. You're familiar with AI-assisted development tools and have worked on regulated products where data accuracy and compliance are critical. Strong incident management, prioritization, and cross-functional communication skills are essential, along with genuine investment in developing people.
