Zoox's Simulation team builds critical infrastructure that enables engineers across the company to validate autonomous vehicle safety and performance. The team develops 3D scenario authoring tools, generative models for realistic traffic and scenario generation, and agentic tooling that automates simulation workflows. This combination of traditional software engineering and machine learning directly impacts how comprehensively the company can test edge cases before autonomy releases. As Engineering Manager for Simulation Scenario Generation, you will lead a team of software and ML engineers responsible for building the scenario authoring tools, generative models, and agentic systems that power company-wide validation efforts. You'll own the team's technical direction, including its strategic shift toward generative AI capabilities. Your responsibilities include growing and developing team members, setting technical priorities, and ensuring the team delivers simulation coverage that scales with company needs. You'll partner cross-functionally across engineering, autonomy, and product teams to scale generative scenario creation as a company-wide capability with executive visibility. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring you to balance team development, technical strategy, and delivery of high-impact infrastructure that directly supports the company's autonomous vehicle validation pipeline.
