Salary: USD 213,000 - 255,000 / annual

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and 2x cheaper. The company combines advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to reinvent American production of critical defense and aerospace components. Hadrian is expanding rapidly with Factory 3 launching in Mesa, Arizona, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model. The Autonomous Factory Systems team builds the software enabling Hadrian's factories to sense, decide, and act autonomously. This includes the core robotics stack—perception, behaviors, planning, collision avoidance, and high-level control—alongside orchestration between robots and manufacturing machines and the hardware abstraction layer connecting software to floor equipment. As Engineering Manager for Robotics, you will build and manage a team of engineers focused on the robotics side of this stack. This is a people-first management role emphasizing hiring, growing, and supporting a strong team while staying technically engaged to guide direction and staffing decisions. Key responsibilities include: owning people leadership (hiring, onboarding, mentorship, career growth, performance); building a hiring engine for robotics talent across perception, planning, behaviors, and control; ensuring engineers are engaged and set up to do their best work; having real input into technical direction and headcount investment in partnership with technical leads; partnering with Hardware, Controls, Product, and Operations to translate business priorities into a sequenced roadmap; and continuously improving engineering practices including planning, design review, code review, testing, simulation, deployment, on-call, and incident response. Required qualifications: 2–5+ years of engineering management experience leading robotics, autonomy, or other complex technical teams in production; genuine passion for people management; track record of hiring and building strong technical teams including for hard-to-fill roles; technical fluency in robotics concepts (perception, planning, behaviors, control, collision avoidance); strong judgment on organizational design; excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills; track record of running a healthy team with clear expectations and direct feedback; comfort in fast-moving environments with high stakes and short iteration cycles; M.S. in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field. Preferred experience includes scaling a team through fast headcount growth, mentoring engineers into broader technical leadership roles, and managing engineers across multiple robotics disciplines.
