n8n is seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead a high-performing engineering team in a fast-moving AI-native environment. This is a first-line management role for someone with strong technical depth and exceptional people leadership skills.
You will lead one of two new teams shaping n8n's enterprise product scaling:
**Governance & Observability Team**: Develops features giving admins full visibility and control over n8n workflows, including audit logs, monitoring dashboards, usage insights, admin controls, and compliance rules for large organizations.
**Licence & Billing Team**: Owns n8n's licensing, metering, and billing across Cloud and Enterprise platforms, enabling customers to purchase, pay, and scale usage seamlessly through subscriptions, payments, usage tracking, and pricing.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, fostering growth in ownership, performance, and career development
- Create a high-trust environment where engineers learn, make confident decisions, and deliver their best work
- Support hiring, onboarding, and team shaping as n8n scales engineering
- Help your team stay focused and effective as priorities evolve and AI reshapes product development
- Communicate clearly through change, providing engineers context and direction
- Partner with Product, Design, and stakeholders to align on priorities and success metrics
- Bring appropriate structure and process without unnecessary overhead
- Maintain technical credibility by mentoring engineers, challenging decisions thoughtfully, and upholding engineering quality standards
- Step into technical details or code when needed to unblock or support the team
**Required Experience:**
- Minimum 2 years as a first-line Engineering Manager directly leading engineers in a growing product organization
- Proven track record shipping meaningful product or platform outcomes while balancing execution, quality, and team health
- Domain expertise in either billing/licensing (subscriptions, payments, metering, entitlements) or governance/observability (audit logging, monitoring, admin controls, compliance)
- Strong people leadership: coaching, feedback, career development, and difficult conversations
- Composure in fast-moving environments with sound judgment and optimism
- Strong software engineering background with ability to mentor, contribute to architecture discussions, and assess technical trade-offs
- Hands-on capability to go deep into technical details or code when needed
- Cross-functional collaboration experience with Product, Design, and other teams
