Fellow is an AI meeting assistant that helps teams turn conversations into decisions and action. The Recording Platform team is responsible for one of the most foundational and technically complex parts of the product, spanning desktop, mobile, real-time media systems, and third-party meeting platform integrations across diverse devices, operating systems, networks, and configurations.
You will lead and grow the team responsible for Fellow's desktop application, botless recording experience, mobile recording, and real-time audio/video infrastructure. This is a true player-coach role where you will manage and develop engineers, set technical direction, and remain hands-on by writing production code, debugging complex issues, and exploring new ideas alongside the team.
Key responsibilities include: coaching and developing engineers across multiple platforms; growing the team with needed expertise; making reliability a competitive advantage through improved observability, tooling, and incident response; staying close to users and support teams to guide priorities; writing production code where it creates leverage; setting standards for AI coding tool usage; partnering with Product, Design, SRE, and other engineering leaders to turn opportunities into clear priorities; balancing ambitious user-facing work with platform investments; and helping shape future capabilities including deeper OS integrations, new recording environments, and on-device intelligence.
You should have 7+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years managing software engineers. You need a genuine desire to remain technically involved, experience leading production-critical systems, a track record of improving system reliability and observability, and strong judgment balancing feature delivery against technical debt. Experience with desktop applications (Electron), real-time media systems (WebRTC, audio/video pipelines), cross-platform support, and rapid team growth is valued. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, excel at communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, and have a track record of hiring and developing strong engineers.
