True Anomaly is seeking an Engineering Manager for Propulsion Development and Test to lead the strategy, execution, and team behind the company's propulsion development program. This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical depth with people management. You will directly supervise and develop a team of propulsion development engineers responsible for defining requirements, conducting design trades, maturing propulsion capabilities, and executing test campaigns across True Anomaly's propulsion portfolio. You will be equally comfortable diving into technical analysis and driving engineering decisions as you are developing and managing your team. Key responsibilities include: Team Leadership: Hire, supervise, and develop propulsion engineers. Align propulsion demand with team capabilities and resources. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, conduct performance reviews, and create development plans. Foster a culture of technical rigor, safety, accountability, and ownership. Resolve technical blockers and cross-functional issues. Propulsion Development & Testing: Build and execute a roadmap for component and system-level propulsion evaluation. Plan early, frequent testing to buy down risk. Establish system-level tests starting with commercial off-the-shelf GSE, progressing to flight-representative hardware. Integrate propulsion test planning with facility and GSE capability planning. Technical Oversight: Provide approval authority for infrastructure trade studies. Review and approve P&IDs, fabrication drawings, material selections, and vendor proposals. Champion safety by ensuring hazard analyses, propellant handling procedures, and regulatory coordination are properly resourced. Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and DoD standards for hypergolic systems. Facility & Procurement: Drive resolution of facility design and construction issues, interfacing with civil, mechanical, electrical, and safety teams. Oversee hardware procurement, fabrication oversight, installation, commissioning, and resolution of nonconformances. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering. 10+ years in propulsion and fluid systems engineering for aerospace, launch vehicle, or defense applications, with at least 3 years in direct people management or influential leadership. Demonstrated experience leading teams through propulsion test campaigns including hot-fire, cold-flow, and pressure testing.
