Anyscale is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the Infrastructure, SRE, and Enterprise Governance Engineering teams. The company is building a platform around Ray, an open-source distributed computing framework used by companies like OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, and Instacart to scale machine learning applications.
In this role, you will guide the technical vision and direction of the team while recruiting and enabling a high-performing engineering organization. You'll oversee strategy and execution for critical infrastructure components including cluster launcher, cloud provider integrations (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes support, cluster autoscaling, control plane, data plane, reliability, billing stack, and production databases.
You will work closely with customers and the field engineering team to understand their challenges, solve complex distributed systems problems, and ensure their success with the platform. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring both technical depth and people management excellence.
Key responsibilities include building and scaling high-performing teams while maintaining strong culture, setting and maintaining a high hiring bar, coaching and mentoring engineers, managing performance, and driving execution with a sense of urgency and excellent prioritization.
Ideal candidates bring solid engineering management experience, a track record of helping teams scale quickly, deep technical knowledge in distributed systems, prior experience with Kubernetes and VMs, strong execution history, and excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable with complex technical challenges and able to translate customer needs into product direction.
